Get Discovered

How recruiters actually search, and how to be findable without broadcasting anything.

Your LinkedIn profile is a search result. Set it up so you appear in the right ones, then use it like a working tool.

The one thing to understand

Recruiters do not browse. They search. You are either in the result list or you are invisible, and being qualified has nothing to do with it.

But how that search works changed in 2026, and most advice has not caught up.

The old model was keyword matching. A recruiter typed a Boolean string and you either contained those exact words or you did not. That is why every guide tells you to stuff in keywords.

In June 2026 LinkedIn rebuilt candidate search on semantic matching. Instead of matching strings, the system turns your profile into a mathematical representation of what you have actually done and compares it to a representation of what the recruiter is looking for. LinkedIn's own engineers said the old keyword search "returned zero results for nearly half of queries," which is why they replaced it.

What that changes, in one line: missing an exact keyword is now less fatal. Being vague is far more fatal.

Under keyword matching, "results-driven revenue leader" was merely useless. Under semantic matching it is worse than useless, because there is nothing underneath it to represent. It resolves to noise.

Whereas this resolves to a qualification a system can match:

Five years closing net-new mid-market SaaS, $80k to $250k ACV, healthcare vertical, $1.2M quota.

So the instruction is not "add more keywords." It is write checkable, specific claims in plain English. Say what you sell, to whom, at what size, with what result.
